REPRESENTATION OF THE CONCEPT "HOSPITALITY" IN THE PROVERBAL LANGUAGE PICTURE OF THE WORLD

This article discusses the national and cultural specifics of the implementation of the concept of “hospitality” in the proverbial language picture of the world, reflected in the materials of the paremiological fund of the Russian and English languages; an attempt was made to determine the national-specific features of the concept under study by a comparative study of the linguistic worldviews of the Russian and English ethnic groups. The word hospitality and the concept expressed by it, according to the terminology of A. Vezhbitskaya, is nationally specific for both Russian and English language consciousness and is included in the category of basic concepts of culture as a value and priority of human activity. The national and cultural specificity of the implementation of the concept of “hospitality” in the Russian language consciousness is due to the peculiarities of the national character, namely: the objectification of the concept of “breadth of the Russian soul”. In the expression of the concept of “hospitality” in the English language, the stereotypical character traits of the English are explicated: restraint, adherence to etiquette, secularity, as well as cultural features.
