Multilingualism plays an important role in contemporary international relations by facilitating diplomatic communication, international cooperation, and intercultural understanding. In an increasingly interconnected world, the ability to communicate across linguistic boundaries is essential for governments, international organizations, and individuals. This article examines the role of multilingualism in diplomacy, global governance, soft power, and intercultural communication. It also considers challenges associated with the dominance of English and unequal access to language education. Drawing on a conceptual analysis of academic literature and institutional language policies, the article argues that multilingualism is not merely a communication tool but also a resource for political inclusion and cultural recognition. Effective multilingual policies can contribute to more inclusive international relations when supported by professional translation, intercultural competence, and equitable access to linguistic resources.
