This article examines the causes, consequences and consequences of the fabrications of the "cotton affair" and "Uzbek affair" in Uzbekistan in 1983-1989. The reasons for the weakening of the socio-economic, political and spiritual spheres of the country, the changing attitude of citizens to the Soviet regime and the growing desire for independence were analyzed. The memoirs of those who witnessed the atrocities at that time, as well as those who were victims, were analyzed in periodicals on articles on the subject.
