This article explores the linguopoetic features of proverbs containing hydronymic components in both English and Uzbek languages. Hydronyms, such as references to rivers, seas, and lakes, serve as powerful metaphors that convey complex human experiences related to life, movement, depth, and emotion. The study highlights how these proverbs utilize metaphorical depth, sound patterns, conciseness, and cultural context to express wisdom in vivid and memorable ways. English and Uzbek proverbs share common thematic elements, such as the passage of time, the irreversibility of the past, and the importance of moving forward, while reflecting the distinct cultural values and relationships with water in their respective societies. By examining the linguistic and poetic qualities of these proverbs, the article demonstrates the universality and cultural specificity of water-related metaphors, shedding light on how language encapsulates both universal human experiences and culturally rooted perspectives.
